I'm Darren Staley and I am running for Senate in the 36th District of North Carolina. This district was designed to ensure that a Democrat can't compete, much less win. I believe democracy only works when people have options, and I aim to give them one.
In a district that continues to be devastated by the loss of manufacturing jobs, I'm the only candidate in this race who strapped on a tool belt and worked third shift on a factory floor for ten years. I'm the only candidate in this race who experienced first-hand the despair and hopelessness that comes with that being ripped out from under you, only to find the safety net in tatters.
I'm the only candidate who has lived with an incapacitating disability while having no access to health insurance or quality health care. Who has seen the stigma attached to mental illness and felt the shame and judgement heaped on people who utilize essential programs like SSDI and SNAP.
I'm the only candidate in this race who dropped out of high school and realized late in life that education is critical to so many aspects of life. And I'm the only candidate in this race who has gone from high school dropout and laid off factory worker to obtaining a Master's Degree to Director of Operations for a small business that provides services to those in need.
If you think someone with my lived experience and unique perspective is someone who could provide a refreshing change to politics as usual, I hope you will consider me.
I can't get my message out there without your donations. I'm not a wealthy person by any stretch. I don't have a PAC or group of wealthy donors. I am literally just a guy in a mobile home typing this from my kitchen table.
The official filing date for the 2024 election is December 4, and I'd like to show 'em I'm for real. Give what you can and what's in your heart.
